To develop a true picture of aerosol-cloud interaction, a number of scientific disciplines require attention. In particular, seven broad- based study topics feed into the 7-SEAS program:

1) Clouds and Precipitation

2) Radiative transfer

3) Calibration/validation

4) Anthropogenic and biomass burning emissions and transport

5) Natural background atmospheric chemistry

6) Tropical-subtropical meteorology

7)Regional nowcasting, forecasting, and inter-annual outlooks
